2022-2023
Introducing ARC, also known as Automating Robots in the Community, a student-led community club founded in Richmond, VA & based in Petersburg, VA. With over 40 members, ARC has culminated into the first-ever AI, Automation & Robotics Community Club in Virginia!
ARC began with a vision of the future to implement Robotics into the community when ARC's founder Nicolas Pollard, a then-freshman studying Mechatronics & Mechancial Robotics Engineering, brought the community club to life. He founded the community club on the principle that ARC would be used to promote growth, education, and positivity in every community he visited.
In the past year, ARC has hosted several events that have engaged students k-college by educating members of the community about Robotics.

Now, ARC is moving into the exciting future of Artificial Intelligence to continue our mission to educate, inspire, and evolve our ARCommunity!!!

Cyberchallenge!
Members were able to complete a Cyberchallenge to learn the basics of Cyber such as:
* 2-factor authentication
*CAC protection
*Classified Data
*Detection & Awareness of Cyberthreats (Phishing, Social Engineering & e-protection)
*Near field communications & Mobile device tracking
Antivirus Software, Firewall & IoT principles.
Autonomous Robot Assembly
Over the summer, ARC completed our very first-ever Operational Autonomous Robot!
We began with collecting a cost analysis list to predetermine what items were needed to assemble the Robot in our pre-assembly phase.
We utilized industrial equipment such as Bandsaw, Drill, Mill, hand tools & soldering equipment to construct the chassis, support beams, frame mount, and general assembly along with lab resources accumulated in our pre-assembly phase.
Using ROS, we were able to troubleshoot our many many, many errors with the robot until we were "comfortable" with our code.
The robot is capable of autonomous driving with sensors to detect moving objects as apart of our field testing for an autonomous delivery robot!
IOS Prototype Application
Our team developed our prototype IOS app!
Using X-code, our team developed an array of features(pun intended) as a blueprint for how our app will work upon completion.

The newest addition to our community enrichment initiative has been in close collaboration with Parenting Matters Educational Services in our very first-ever Youth Development Program!!!
